debian lenny - Wednesday, April 25, 2007 10:48 pm
I did an apt-get dist-upgrade today, and my GUI didn't come back.
This is because my NVIDIA driver installs itself in a different place
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules

than X.org looks for drivers now.
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/

So I had to copy everything from the first directory to the second.
Just an FYI for anybody that has their box break.  Of course if your box is broken and you can get to my website then I would think you are capable of bringing it back up now, right ? :)

music sucks - Thursday, April 19, 2007 12:47 pm
I have been working so hard to get this goddamn single out.  I have it basically finished, but the electronic drums sound like ass.  The mic I used for the recording was from radio shack, and it made the guitars and the vocals sound totally weak.  I'm listening to Pantera after listening to my demo version of my MP3.  It's honestly pretty pathetic sounding.  Granted, I really haven't tried to produce any guitar based metal kind of music in a long, long fucking time. I think I really just need to remaster it... again....   The individual tracks sound like they are clipping and the overall volume should just be turned up.  I hate the way electronic drums sound, they just sound fake to me.  I feel like I should redo all the drum tracks with real, recorded drums, but I'm not sure how many takes it would take me to do all of the drums in this song, as they are pretty difficult.  I'm a little rusty with my guitar these days, but my drumming I'm sure is EXTREMELY rusty.  Oh well.

By the way, happy bicycle day!

The best explaination of why people make crappy powerpoint presentations, and why so many of my programming classes at community colleges sucked:

palm going linux - Wednesday, April 11, 2007 4:55 pm
From http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/04/11/1330201

The Melbourne Age reports that company officials announced Tuesday that Palm will move to a new Linux-based platform 'to help the company compete better.' The move was announced 'during a meeting with analysts in New York, where they also discussed the company's business strategy and refused to talk about recent rumors of a possible buyout.

What is interesting to me is the fact that they do not have the desktop synchronization software, Palm Desktop, available for linux.  You have to use open source software like kpilot. Does this also mean they will finally have a linux desktop created by palm?  Only time will tell
